my birthday adventure and cake tour

When Mum asked what I wanted for my birthday this year I replied "to be away, sitting on a large, empty beach" so we booked ourselves off to a little cottage in the north west of Scotland for a week. On my birthday I was granted my wish....

A large, empty beach.

And despite being on holiday, mum managed to make me a birthday trifle after a quick raid of the local shop. It even had Jazzies on it (remember my Jazzie birthday cake?) Top work, Mum.

(Never too old to receive a toy dinosaur for my birthday)

Although we had no intentions of doing much on our holiday, we actually managed to pack in quite a lot of exploring around the west coast. I did some casual mountaineering in my emery dress....

...surveyed the wild landscape in my coco dress...

...had a bit of a Candy Pop moment when we found a pink house on our daytrip to Skye. It's so obnoxiously pink I love it. We also tried and failed to find the famous dinosaur footprints at Staffin beach.

My pink knitted hat coordinated with the walls nicely.

And despite it being October I managed to paddle in the sea... twice!

It goes without saying that I managed to eat a lot of cake and sweet stuff throughout the week. Here's a collage to prove it.

I included my trifle again to complete the grid. And no, I did not eat all those pies... but I did eat two!

We also stayed a couple of days with my brother in Glasgow and I visited friends in Edinburgh. It goes without saying I ate sweet stuff there too...

I also treated myself to new winter boots (necessary), more fabric (always necessary, obviously!) and an expensive new coat (not necessary but OH MY GOD IT'S BEAUTIFUL and everybody told me to buy it!) As a result my bank balance is horrified with me but damn it, it was my birthday trip and I deserved a splurge. As long as I don't make a habit of it!
